# Overview of the Login API

## Introduction

Users can create a new account by sharing high-quality data from their Vipps or MobilePay profile.
Available information includes name, email, addresses, phone number, and birthdate. [National identity number](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/login-api/api-guide/user-info.md#nin) is also available to some merchants. The identity of all Vipps MobilePay users is verified as part of our Know Your Customer (KYC) process, so rest assured that these are real people with the correct name and information.

**NOTE**

Login is **not an electronic identification** or certified eID.

**TIP**

A sales unit can use the Login API for many flows.
It is recommended to use the same sales unit for all use cases to ensure that you get the same user ID (`sub`) on the user across different scenarios.
