# Unscheduled charges

An Unscheduled charge is a payment that happens instantly and is not part of a regular schedule. These are typically ad hoc or "one-off" charges created for an active payment agreement.

## Example industries/use-cases

Unscheduled charges are used in scenarios where payments are not planned ahead or when the total amount depends on certain factors. Here are some common use cases for unscheduled charges:

On-demand ride services: Charging customers for rides once they are completed, based on distance and time.
Utility services: Charging for electricity consumption after the usage is determined, such as charging for electric vehicle charging.
🅿 Parking services: Charging based on the duration of stay when a vehicle leaves a parking facility.
Subscription overages: Billing for overages in cloud storage or data usage beyond the subscription limit.

## Key features

### Individual processing

Each charge is processed once and is not automatically retried.

### Charge success rate

The charge success rate is **92%** with auto-updated cards in the wallet. Merchants can retry by creating a new unscheduled charge depending on their business logic.

### User visibility and management

1. Users are charged when the merchant initiates the payment, without an advance overview in the app.
2. Users do not have to approve the payment.
3. Users can manage their payment methods through the payment agreement.

### Individual charges

Bulk charging is not supported. Merchants create each charge individually.

### Rate limits

Up to 500 requests per minute.

### Lead time

The charge is created ad hoc by the merchant and processed as early as possible.
