[Apply for services](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/knowledge-base/applying-for-services.md) to join as a Vipps MobilePay merchant.

## Where the app is available

The app is available in these regions:

* **Norwegian and Swedish regions:** The Vipps app (orange)
* **Danish and Finnish regions:** The MobilePay app (blue)

### User requirements by region

For user eligibility, requirements, and getting started guides, see:

| Region | Resources |
|---------|-----------|
| Denmark | [English](https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/en-DK/articles/what-do-i-need) \| [Dansk](https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/da-DK/articles/what-do-i-need) |
| Finland | [English](https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/en-FI/articles/what-do-i-need) \| [Suomi](https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/fi-FI/articles/what-do-i-need) |
| Greenland (Danish region) | [English](https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/en-DK/articles/create-a-profile-in-greenland) \| [Dansk](https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/da-DK/articles/create-a-profile-in-greenland) |
| Norway | [English](https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/en-NO/articles/what-do-i-need) \| [Norsk](https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/nb-NO/articles/what-do-i-need) |
| Sweden | [English](https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/en-SE/articles/what-do-i-need) \| [Svenska](https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/sv-SE/articles/what-do-i-need) |

Residents of the Faroe Islands can use the app as part of the Danish region, with a Danish CPR number and phone
number. They can add Faroese bank accounts and cards.

### Cross-border payments

Users can pay any Nordic merchant, whichever region they are in. For example, a Norwegian user can pay a Danish
merchant, and a Finnish user can pay a Norwegian merchant.

## Considerations

### Payment options

If you sell in several markets, show both the Vipps and MobilePay buttons in your checkout so customers with either app can pay.

**Best practices:**

* Present each brand as a separate selection
* Place the local brand name first based on your target market
* Follow the [brand guidelines](https://brand.vippsmobilepay.com/document/61#/branding/online) for proper button styling and placement

### Currency requirements

For payments using `WALLET`, the currency used **must** match the region where your sales unit is registered. This
ensures compliance with local regulations and smooth payment processing.

| Sales unit region | Required currency | Notes |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Denmark | **DKK** (Danish Krone) | Includes merchants in Greenland |
| Finland | **EUR** (Euro) | |
| Norway | **NOK** (Norwegian Krone) | Swedish users pay Norwegian merchants in NOK |

PSPs using the [PSP ePayment API](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/psp-epayment-api/README.md) are not limited to the currency registered for the sales unit. They can use any supported currency, subject to their commercial agreement.

**NOTE**

The Danish and Finnish markets have shorter payment time limits, and some other regulations differ.
For more details, see:

* [Capture attempt deadlines](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/knowledge-base/reserve-and-capture.md#capture-attempt-deadlines)
* [Regulatory requirements for purchases](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/knowledge-base/payment-rules.md)

### Shipping support for Express

For [Express](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/epayment-api/api-guide/features/express.md), the shipping address must match the payment
currency's country unless you set `shipping.allowedCountries`. Set this to a list of ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes
to support delivery to one or more other countries. Each shipping option must use the payment currency.

## Technical implementation

### Recommended APIs

Use our latest [APIs](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/README.md) to support all Nordic markets.

**Cross-border support**

Users in all Nordic markets can pay merchants through the [ePayment](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/epayment-api/README.md) and [Recurring](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/recurring-api/README.md) APIs, and log in through the [Login](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/login-api/README.md) API.

### App behavior

Norwegian and Swedish users pay Danish and Finnish merchants with the Vipps app, and Danish and Finnish users pay Norwegian merchants with the MobilePay app. The same applies to login.

Our [redirect setup](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/knowledge-base/app-flow.md) opens the correct app for the user. Both [universal links](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/knowledge-base/app-flow.md#universal-links-strongly-recommended) and [deep links](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/knowledge-base/app-flow.md#deep-links) can open either the Vipps or the MobilePay app, so you do not need any extra logic.

**Recommended solution:** Use [universal links](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/knowledge-base/app-flow.md) for better reliability and user experience.

Important: Do not try to detect whether the Vipps or MobilePay app is installed, because it can block users of the other app. For example, if a Norwegian merchant checks for the Vipps app, Danish and Finnish users cannot complete their payment.

### Landing page branding

The [landing page](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/knowledge-base/landing-page.md) branding follows your sales unit's region, not the user's region.

#### Payments

For payments ([ePayment](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/epayment-api/README.md) and [Recurring](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/recurring-api/README.md)), the landing page always uses the branding of the region where your sales unit is registered.

**TIP**

On a website, use the [Widget SDK](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/knowledge-base/widget.md). It opens the landing page for
you and shows a payment button with the correct brand for your market.

#### Login

For [Login](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/login-api/README.md), the landing page uses your sales unit's region by default. To override it, set the `market` query parameter in your initial login request:

* **`market=NO`** or **`market=SE`**: Landing page displays **Vipps** branding (logo and colors)
* **`market=DK`** or **`market=FI`**: Landing page displays **MobilePay** branding (logo and colors)

See the [Login API guide](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/login-api/api-guide/browser-flow-integration.md#oauth-20-authorize) for details.

### Pass-through payments

Use the [ePayment PSP API](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/psp-epayment-api/README.md) and [Recurring PSP API](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/psp-recurring-api/README.md). They support cross-border payments in all markets.

The legacy PSP APIs have limited cross-border support:

* [MobilePay Online](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/psp-mp-api/README.md): Danish and Finnish markets only
* [Vipps PSP](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/psp-api/README.md): Norwegian merchants only. Swedish users can pay, but depending on the PSP configuration, 3DS authentication may fail for some of them.

### eCom API

**Norwegian merchants only:** The eCom API is only available to Norwegian merchants. See [eCom API limitations](https://developer.vippsmobilepay.com/docs/APIs/ecom-api/vipps-ecom-api-limitations.md) for restrictions on international use.
